Maintaining your Velashape II Results
Velashape II is an effective, non-invasive way to help reduce the appearance of cellulite, but there are plenty of ways you can keep your skin smooth and free of dimples at home to prolong your Velashape II results and enjoy smoother, firmer, healthier skin.
Drink Plenty of Water
We hear this one all the time, and tend to pay it little mind, but drinking water consistently throughout the day is excellent for your health in general, and especially for your skin. Keeping up a steady intake of water helps your body better flush out waste and keeps your skin hydrated. In addition to maintaining a healthy diet, with minimal intake of junk or processed foods, water consumption makes your body most efficient at doing its job of keeping healthy blood flow and moving out waste, helping to prevent cellulite formation.
Keep up an Exercise Routine
As cellulite forms when pockets of fat push against tight bands under the skin, keeping a healthy weight and building muscle is essential for minimizing cellulite after your Velashape II treatments. Working to tone problems areas, such as the buttocks and backs of legs, can assist in the long-run in the fight against cellulite.
Utilize Appropriate Topical Skin Creams
The application of anti-cellulite skin creams is an important step to keeping a smoother figure. An essential part of our patient education process is informing Velashape II users how they can best incorporate the right skin products between visits. Our team of technicians can recommend the best regimen for your goals.
Maintain a Velashape II Treatment Schedule
In addition to healthy habits at home, one of the most effective ways to fight cellulite through medical spa treatments is to keep up with a consistent schedule of care. At Newport Beach MedSpa’s two locations, you can return for touch ups every three months or so (or as many as your choose), to keep your skin smooth and free of the appearance of cellulite. Our Velashape II Membership keeps you in shape all year long.
Questions about Velashape II?

Why Patients Love NeoGraft
Reading reviews about the NeoGraft® procedure online will confirm why it’s becoming so many patients’ first choice for hair restoration. Compared to traditional hair restoration that involve grafts and surgical processes, the FUE method of restoring hair provides patients with more natural looking results and the most gentle way to replace thinning hair.
Our Newport Beach hair transplant patients love NeoGraft® FUE hair transplants because they offer:
Improved Comfort – No cutting and no surgical processes means less discomfort and better patient tolerance. Most patients experience only minor swelling and felt comfortable going back to their daily routine after treatment. Many individuals who choose the NeoGraft® procedure report the process as being completely comfortable with the help of local anesthetic and state that the recovery period was also far more manageable than they imagined.
Better Overall Treatment Experience – Patients report former methods of hair restoration as being unnecessarily invasive and producing results that look unnatural. Compared to the strip method of hair transplantation, pieces of skin and scalp are not removed with the FUE method. Patients who had previously chosen the strip method are pleasantly surprised by the overall non-invasiveness of the NeoGraft® procedure so much so that they were eager to return for additional treatments to more comprehensively replace lost or thinning hair.
Speedier Recovery – Because NeoGraft® technology transplants individual hair follicles, instead of using large donor patches of skin, there is far less downtime associated with treatment. Patients love that getting a hair restoration does not have to be a major event that requires they carve out time in their schedules to recover from surgery. NeoGraft® FUE hair transplant patients do not have to deal with large, embarrassing scars.
Life-Changing Results – Years ago, pursuing treatment for thinning hair meant running the risk that plugs or strip hair restoration would leave your hair or hairline looking obviously altered. NeoGraft® technology is able to provide life-changing results by allowing your hair to look as natural as possible. Patients feel confident knowing that their restored hair does not show tell-tale signs of transplanting.

SmartLipo Laser Liposuction: How it Works
Minimizing fat deposits is a problem that modern cosmetic procedures have been able to make more comfortable and efficient. Among the most effective ways to reduce pockets of fat in problem areas on your body is liposuction. In recent years, liposuction has been advanced with the help of laser technology. Laser liposuction is the gentler way to predictably remove fat accumulation and has the extra added benefit of producing collagen from under the skin which promotes skin tightening.
How Does Laser Liposuction Work?
Lasers are utilized in fat removal treatments to facilitate the easier removal of fat cells. Traditionally, in standard liposuction procedures, fat cells are removed through the use of a back and forth suctioning motion. This treatment method will indeed remove fat cells in the treated area, but the force of motion needed to successfully remove fat can create discomfort or leave the surface of skin less smooth than desired.
Using a laser in conjunction with traditional liposuction tools allows fat to be removed in a way that is gentler on tissue. The laser first liquefies fat so that it can be suctioned without force. While the general process for fat removal with laser is the same – a cannula, or small tube, is inserted through into treatment areas to remove fat cells – the addition of the laser makes all the difference in terms of patient experience and procedure outcomes.
Laser Technology for the Benefit of Successful Fat Removal
Lasers are now used in a variety of medical treatments, from dentistry to cosmetic surgery for fat removal. Utilizing varying wavelengths, lasers can target different tissues for more efficient treatment. Liposuction lasers utilize a wavelength that can help to specifically and more easily treat fat cells while creating minimal disruption for skin. Lasers also generally assist in the treatment healing process, as they seal tissue, promoting a more comfortable recovery period with less bleeding and bruising.
Laser assisted fat removal surgery helps to deliver the kinds of results that patients are looking for -- sleeker silhouettes with smooth skin that looks and feels natural.

Who is a Good Candidate for CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting® is a non-invasive body-sculpting procedure that targets and removes body fat in a highly specific way. It can be a good method of losing inches when diet and exercise alone aren't getting the results you want.
Why Choose CoolSculpting®?
Selecting the best fat removal methods depends on a number of factors. While there are other methods of fat removal—such as liposuction—that are capable of removing more fat than CoolSculpting®, but there are some big advantages to opting for the CoolSculpting® procedure.
The key feature that defines CoolSculpting® is its ability to remove small amounts of fat from very specific locations. If you have stubborn fat that diet and exercise haven't been able to eliminate, CoolSculpting® might be a good option.
In contrast to other, more extensive fat removal procedures, CoolSculpting® uses a hand piece to non-invasively remove excess fat. There are no incisions, no need for anesthetic, no downtime, and no recovery time required, as there is with weight-loss surgery or liposuction. And because CoolSculpting® is non-invasive, it's virtually risk-free.
Is CoolSculpting® Right for You?
The CoolSculpting® procedure works best for people who are at or close to their target weight, but who want to refine their body shape by removing bulges in key areas. Because CoolSculpting® doesn't remove large amounts of fat, it's not a substitute for weight loss, and may not be the not the best choice if you want to lose a significant amount of weight.
Another important factor relates to how the fat is distributed on the body. For CoolSculpting® to provide desired results, the fat should be in a relatively small area and loose enough that it can be accessed by the CoolSculpting® hand piece which freezes fat cells to eliminate them from the body.
CoolSculpting® is right for you if you're not significantly overweight or if you have small pockets of fat that diet and exercise haven't been able to remove, such as the love handles, under the arms, or on the lower abdomen.

5 Steps to Better Skin in Winter
Baby, it’s cold outside! This harsh winter weather can take its toll on your skin, but don’t worry – here are 5 tips to help keep your skin as soft as possible this winter season.
- Add extra moisture.Even if you consistently hydrate your skin, consider moisturizing more often or even switching to a heavier moisturizer during these cold days. Our Hydrate Luxe may be one to check out –its balm-like texture helps provide extra-rich moisturization. Both Hydrate and Hydrate Luxe feature the ingredient Hydromanil and can deliver moisture that lasts throughout the day.1While you’re at it, remember to keep your lips hydrated with a moisturizing lip balm with skin protecting ingredients to help prevent chapping.
- Stay warm.Pretty obvious, right? But still essential. Do what you can to remain warm this winter: this means bundling up when you go outside, heating your house/room when necessary, and using a humidifier if you live in a dry climate. Your skin will thank you for taking this easy step in these colder months!
- Up the fatty acids in your diet.Foods that contain a good dose of healthy fats – including almonds, walnuts, salmon, and olive oil – may help keep your skin hydrated.2 These are also superfoods that can help your heart health…so they’ll work double duty for you in winter!
- Cool it with the baths.Baths can be very relaxing and warming when it’s so cold out, but try to limit them this winter, and keep the water warm – not hot. Using hot water in your bath or shower can actually break down the lipid barriers in skin, which may result in moisture loss and can dry out your skin.3
- Don’t forget sunscreen!Just because you can’t see the sun as much in winter doesn’t mean it can’t affect your skin. In fact, UVA sun rays (which can penetrate into deeper levels of the skin and contribute to skin aging) are present year-round and can pierce through glass and clouds.4 So, when we say it’s best to use a broad spectrum sunscreen every day, we mean EVERY DAY – winter included.
There you go – these 5 easy steps may make a difference between dry, chapped skin and more hydrated, softer skin this winter. Tell us in the comments below what helps keep your skin moisturized when it’s cold outside!

Eat Your Way to Clear, Healthy Skin With These 26 Meals
The expression “you are what you
eat” may be more accurate than you think. There are many factors that
contribute to the clear, glowing, blemish-free skin everyone strives for (including
genetics). Some
foods—depending on their vitamin, mineral, and antioxidant content—can actually help promote
healthy skin. We searched the web for meals that contain two or more foods with
properties known to protect or repair skin. (But keep in mind, though studies
suggest certain foods can protect our skin or repair damage, they're not a
substitute for preventative measures like sunscreen.) From quinoa for breakfast
to lots of dark chocolate for dessert, here are 26 ways to eat your way to
better skin.
Breakfast
1. Blueberry and Walnut Smoothie
Blueberries, one of nature’s most potent antioxidant-containing fruits, provide the color for this simple, healthy smoothie. If you don’t have walnuts on hand to whip up homemade walnut milk, choose your favorite variety of milk (but keep in mind that some studies link whey-protein-based dairy to skin conditions, including acne, thanks to its insulin-boosting abilities) . If you can’t make walnut milk, try throwing a few whole walnuts in there anyways—they contain a healthy dose of magnesium, which is important for healthy blood flow in the skin .

2. Quinoa Breakfast Cereal with Berries
and Almonds
Your typical morning breakfast may feature oatmeal, but switch things up with quinoa for an extra dose of protein. Whole grains, including quinoa, are a rich source of selenium, which can improve skin elasticity . Blueberries are high in anthocyanins (one of many antioxidants, which fight off the damage in our bodies caused by free radicals). Almonds are a high source of vitamin E, known to protect our skin from the sun’s rays .

3. Kale, Apple, Raspberry, and Goji Green
Smoothie
Sip your way to healthy skin with this superfood-packed smoothie. Leafy green kale contains high levels of vitamin K, an essential vitamin known to suppress inflammation (which can result in acne or wrinkles) . Chewy, tangy, and sweet goji berries are a rich source of antioxidants, known to ward off the signs of photoaging (aging of the skin often caused by sun damage), including liver spots, freckles, and spider veins . Apples are also a healthy-skin super-fruit; Fuji and Red Delicious rank highest for antioxidants .

4.
Pumpkin Pie Baked Oatmeal
This fall-friendly breakfast is warm and comforting, but it also features two healthy skin-promoting foods: oats and pumpkin. Foods high on the glycemic index (which measures how much a specific food raises blood sugar levels when consumed) can increase inflammation, and as a result, wreak havoc on our skin . High GI foods (like white bread, for instance) spike blood sugar levels because the body digests them very quickly, while low GI foods, like oatmeal digest slowly . Pumpkin, on the other hand, has loads of beta-carotene, a provitamin that converts to vitamin A (known to improve aged skin) .

Salads
5. Kale Salad With Pomegranate Seeds
and Meyer Lemon Vinaigrette
Perfect for a light lunch or side salad, this healthy skin medley features kale, avocado, quinoa, pomegranate seeds, pecans, goat cheese, and a homemade Meyer lemon vinaigrette. Leafy greens, especially kale, are high in antioxidants and vitamin K—both of which help the skin look young (antioxidants because they help slow down the process of aging, and vitamin K because it protects the skin’s elasticity). Pomegranate seeds boast super high levels of polyphenols (an antioxidant also found in cranberries) .

Nicoise Salad With Charred Fish
This hearty salad incorporates tons of Mediterranean staples, including fish, beans, green beans, olives, capers, and red bell pepper. Studies have found that the Mediterranean diet—composed primarily of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish, beans, nuts, and olive oil—can protect against acne thanks to high fiber, antioxidant-rich, and Omega-3-packed foods (all of which help protect the skin from acne flair ups) .

7. Roasted Beet, Plum, and Kale Salad
Perfect for late summer or early fall, this colorful salad highlights beets, plums, and tomatoes. Beets contain the antioxidant betalain in a higher concentration than most vegetables, and research shows beets may also help reduce the risk for skin cancer . This salad also includes tomatoes, which are a great source of lycopene, an antioxidant found to reduce skin roughness . And to round things off, the antioxidant kaempferol—found in kale—may be therapeutic to skin burns .

8. Orange Fennel Salad With Date Vinaigrette
Topped with just fennel, onion, oranges, and walnuts, this salad is a cinch. Quercetin, an antioxidant found in fennel, has been found to help treat psoriasis (an inflammatory skin condition) as well as diminish fine lines and wrinkles . The sweet and spicy homemade dressing is a little more involved, but it’s easy to make up a big batch and freeze some for later. The dressing uses dates for sweetness rather than refined sugar (a known trigger for acne) .

10. Lemon Herb Salmon
This recipe, featuring omega-3-rich salmon, is a healthy skin superstar not just for its nutritional profile, but also for its low-grease preparation—baking instead of frying. While consuming certain foods can affect our skin from the inside out, greasy food causes problems the second it touches our mouths. Grease from fried food that touches our faces is a recipe for clogged pores . Opting for baked recipes versus fried can reduce all that grease.

11. Almond Crusted Chicken With Raspberry
Sauce
Crushed nuts replace breading as a gluten-free alternative to coat chicken and create a crispy outer crust. The almond-based crust contains high levels of vitamin E, which helps protect the skin from sun damage . The sauce uses onions and cherries, both of which have high concentrations of polyphenols, which help protect the skin from free radicals . 18. Quinoa With Roasted Squash, Dried
Cranberries, and Pepitas
For a simple fall salad, all it takes are some dried cranberries, cubes of roasted butternut squash, and toasted pepitas. Also known as pumpkin seeds, pepitas are an excellent source of zinc, which helps maintain collagen strength and promotes skin renewal . Eating plenty of whole grains, such as quinoa or farro, is a cheap and easy way to maintain healthy skin since they too have free radical-fighting antioxidants . The third and final main ingredient, cranberries, ranks highly among other fruits for both antioxidant quality and quantity .

21. Spinach Pumpkin Seed Energy Balls
